Be Inspired by the Lovely Way in Which Jon and Tracey Stewart Take Care of Animals
We have always appreciated Jon Stewart formerly of The Daily Show for keeping a sane angle on US politics. Regular viewers will also know that he used his show as a platform to call attention to animal rights and environmental issues. Earlier this year, before retiring, animal advocate and founder of Farm Sanctuary Gene Bauer was a guest on the show and discussed his latest book “Living the Farm Sanctuary Life”.
So it comes as no surprise, but with great please that we found out this week: Jon Stewart recently became a vegetarian AND he and his wife purchased a farm in New Jersey with the intention of providing a sanctuary for farm animals rescued from cruelty.
Tracey Stewart, another celebrity vegan, and her husband are slowly building the rescue shelter to make a home for animals that have cause trouble for their humans and have no other place to go. But in a recent New York Times article, Ms. Stewart acknowledged the pleasure of being around these animals: “We talk about taking in ‘rescue animals.’ But the truth is, just as often, animals rescue us.”
“I’d like people to start to look at animals as individuals,” she said. “If everyone did a bit more, if they fell in love a little bit more, so much could happen. It doesn’t have to be going vegan. You can advocate for them. You can show tenderness. You can play music for them. I really hope people can connect with animals the way most of us did as children.”
